About the movie

English: Born in 1929 in Sayada, Tunisia, Tahar Cheriaa is an intellectual who revolutionized Arab and African cinema.
A special destiny for this genius who follows a rather special educational path in his village and ends up conquering the world. Founder of the first Afro-Arab festival, The Carthage Cinematographic Days (JCC), he will inspire the birth of numerous cinematographic events including the FESPACO (Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou) which he founded in 1969 with his friend Sembene Ousmane. He fought all his life to give African cinema autonomy in the face of the domination of the Hollywood giants. A fight which landed him in prison for several months, wrongly accused of rebellion. His professional commitment led him to marginalize his nuclear family for decades When he died in 2010, he left posterity an enormous cinematographic and intellectual legacy, but a completely torn family.
